How Our Art Workshops Prioritise Accessibility for Every Child's Needs

Booking an art workshop for your child can feel overwhelming if you worry about whether the environment will meet their needs. Many parents hesitate because they fear their child might not get the support they require in a typical group setting. We understand these concerns, which is why accessibility is at the heart of everything we do. Small Group Sizes for Personalised Support
One of the biggest challenges in group workshops is that children with different needs can sometimes feel lost or overwhelmed. To prevent this, we limit every workshop to just 8 students. This small group size allows our facilitators to give each child the attention and support they need.
Sensory Support
Many children experience sensory sensitivities, especially in busier environments. Loud sounds can cause stress or distraction, making it hard to focus on creative activities. To address this, we provide ear defenders for any student who needs them.
Experienced Facilitators with SEND Training
Our facilitators are not only skilled artists but also trained in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) teaching methods. They keep their training up to date to understand the best ways to support a wide range of needs, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, and learning disabilities.
Open Communication with Parents Before Workshops
We know that parents know their children best. That is why we make it a priority to communicate with parents before the workshop. This conversation helps us learn about each child’s specific needs, preferences, and any triggers to avoid.
Space for Parents to Stay During Workshops
Sometimes children feel more secure when a familiar adult is nearby. To support this, we offer space for parents to stay during the workshop if needed. This option helps children who may feel anxious in new settings or who benefit from having a trusted person close by. Parents can observe the workshop. Over time, many children become more independent and comfortable, but knowing a parent is nearby can make all the difference at the beginning.
Flexible Art Activities
No two children are the same, so we avoid a one-size-fits-all approach to art projects. Instead, we tailor activities to the students in each workshop. This flexibility means we can adjust the complexity, materials, or pace depending on the group’s needs.
